Missions — Halo: Campaign Evolved

All campaign missions, Operation: METEORITE prequel aboard Triumph of Tolerance, and Skull notes for Halo: Campaign Evolved—any three Skulls unlock Campaign Remix.

Mission List

Halo: Campaign Evolved ships the remastered Combat Evolved campaign plus Operation: METEORITE's three prequel missions. The table below lists canonical order, mission type, and routing notes for co-op and Campaign Remix.

Classic CE set pieces remain—Pillar of Autumn escape, Silent Cartographer beach, Library Flood reveal—while METEORITE drops you onto the Covenant ship Triumph of Tolerance before the ring story begins. Skulls appear across every level; see Skull locations for how Remix unlocks.

Operation: METEORITE

Operation: METEORITE is a three-mission prequel that takes place before Combat Evolved. You play as Master Chief alongside Sgt. Johnson on an infiltration into the Covenant ship Triumph of Tolerance—boarding action, shipboard objectives, and a finale that sets up the CE campaign.

Treat METEORITE as its own fireteam loop: call roles for breach, overwatch, and vehicle pulls, then carry the momentum into the remastered ring missions. The trailer below covers the operation's tone and set pieces.

  • Prequel — before CE, Chief and Sgt. Johnson
  • Setting — infiltrate Covenant ship Triumph of Tolerance
  • Structure — three missions, co-op ready from day one

Two Betrayals — Known Issue

Early Access has a confirmed known issue on Two Betrayals: after the first generator objective, destroying the Banshee can softlock the mission. The level expects a flyable Banshee to progress; if you shoot it down or blow it up, triggers may never fire and you cannot advance.

Tough Luck and Mythic Skulls on this mission also require a Banshee—you need one intact for both the vanilla route and Skull modifiers that gate aerial sections. Keep the first Banshee alive through the generator sequence; the second Banshee on the bridge is an unreliable backup and may not restore progression if the first is gone.

If you are already stuck, reload a checkpoint from before the generator and preserve the Banshee. There is no save-repair tool yet. We track confirmed blockers like this on our Known Issues page (/known-issues/) as Early Access fixes land.

  • Trigger — after first generator, do not destroy the Banshee
  • Skulls — Tough Luck and Mythic need a living Banshee
  • Recovery — reload pre-generator checkpoint; no save repair yet

Skull Locations

Campaign Evolved includes forty-two Skulls total: thirty-nine are collectible in the world—three per each of the thirteen missions—plus Adaptation, Reload, and Armistice, which grant automatically when Campaign Remix unlocks. You do not need every collectible to open Remix.

Any three collectible Skulls unlock Campaign Remix—see the Campaign Remix page for default modifiers and stacking tips. In co-op, one fireteam pickup credits everyone. Hunt the rest for cosmetics, score runs, and bragging rights, not as a Remix gate.

Every Skull position was moved from Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. Old guide screenshots and videos will send you to the wrong rooms; use Evolved-specific routes only.

Catch Skull in Keyes requires Heroic or Legendary difficulty—the pickup does not appear on Normal or Easy. Plan a second pass or start on Heroic if you are hunting Catch early.

  • Total — 42 Skulls (39 collectible + 3 granted at Remix unlock)
  • Remix unlock — any 3 collectible Skulls (not all 39)
  • Positions — all moved from 2001 / Anniversary; old guides fail
  • Catch (Keyes) — Heroic or Legendary only
  • Co-op — one pickup credits the whole fireteam
